Not local to Saint Louis but love the idea? It’s easy to set up your own art supply library in your community.

What You’ll Need

  • A weather-resistant outdoor cabinet. I used the IKEA KOLBJÖRN cabinet. It’s metal, lockable if needed, and stands up to the weather.
  • A wrap or sign. This helps people understand what it is and how it works.

Signage Files Available

I’m offering a free downloadable zip file with the same vinyl wrap design I used, without the location listed. You can have it printed locally to stick on your cabinet. [Download the Zip File Here]

Simple Steps to Build an Art Supply Library:

  1. Buy or repurpose a suitable outdoor cabinet.
  2. Apply signage so people know it’s an Art Supply Library.
  3. Place it in an accessible, visible spot where people can visit easily.
  4. Seed it with some usable items from your own stash of art and craft supplies!

Tips

  • Let neighbors know about it!
  • Encourage local artists or crafters to donate extras!
  • Check in occasionally to tidy and restock.
