It’s easy to set up your own art supply library to share free creative materials in your community. All you really need is a sturdy outdoor cabinet and some clear signage.

What You’ll Need
- A weather-resistant outdoor cabinet. I used the IKEA KOLBJÖRN cabinet. It’s metal, lockable if needed, and stands up to the weather.
- A vinyl wrap or sign. This helps people understand what it is and how it works.
Signage Files Available
I’m offering a free downloadable zip file with the same vinyl wrap design I use. You can have it printed locally to match your cabinet.
Simple Steps
- Buy or repurpose a suitable outdoor cabinet.
- Clean and prep the surface if you plan to add vinyl.
- Apply the signage so people know it’s an Art Supply Library.
- Place it in an accessible, visible spot where people can visit easily.
- Stock it with art and craft supplies to share!
Tips
- Let neighbors know about it.
- Encourage local artists or crafters to donate extras.
- Check in occasionally to tidy and restock.
